Teotihuacan is a spectacular archaeological site just outside of Mexico City. This site is definitely worth a visit. When it was at its peak around the year 200, it was one of the biggest cities in the world. Teotihuacan is famous for its Pyramid of the Sun and Pyramid of the Moon, but these are just two of the buildings that made up the ancient city. Take a virtual tour of Teotihuacan to see a glimpse of what the site has to offer.

The week leading up to Easter, known as Holy Week in English or Semana Santa in Spanish, begins on Palm Sunday. On this day you can see elaborately woven palm fronds for sale in the local markets and in front of churches. Throughout the week there are many religious events that take place, but if you're traveling in Mexico during this time, you should expect crowds at tourist attractions and beaches - since most students have two weeks off around Easter, this is a popular time for Mexican families to go on vacation. Read more about what to expect during Holy Week in Mexico, or see some photos of some Mexican Holy Week observances: a Passion Play and a Good Friday Procession.

These visitors to Mexico's fabulous beach destinations and picturesque colonial cities tell a far different story from the one we glean from the media headlines about violence in Mexico.

In my opinion Mexico has the best beaches in the world, hands down. Whether we're talking about Mexico's popular beach destinations or those secret beaches that fall under the radar of most travelers, Mexico's beaches have soft sand and stunning clear water, along with great weather, perfect for enjoying those picturesque beaches. There may be some nice beaches in other countries (though I'm not convinced) and if you want to learn about them, there's no better source than our guides here on About.com. Lois Friedland, About.com's intrepid Guide to Adventure Travel has assembled links from around the About.com network to information about the best beach destinations in the world. Check out the blog carnival: Best Beach Vacation Destinations in the World.
