Poland’s Economic Outlook May Be Raised by IMF, PAP Reports

Dec. 15 (Bloomberg) -- The International Monetary Fund will probably raise its outlook for Poland after economic growth exceeded economists’ forecasts last quarter, PAP reported, citing IMF representative Katarzyna Zajdel-Kurowska.

“The last quarterly data indicate that we can reckon with an upward revision of the growth forecast for 2010,” Zajdel- Kurowska, a former Polish deputy finance minister, told the newswire.

Poland’s gross domestic product will expand 1.1 percent this year and grow 1.9 percent in 2010, the IMF estimated in November. The economy of the European Union’s largest eastern member, and the only country in the bloc to avoid a contraction since the credit crisis started, expanded an annual 1.7 percent in the third quarter.
