Third Period

3d period - 18:38 - Boston 5, Philadelphia 1 - - Chara gets the breakthrough goal on the power play, albeit a 5-on-3 opportunity after Braydon Coburn got a cross-checking penalty with 1:22 to go. It is Chara's second goal of the game.

Flyers pull goalie but it backfires when Mike Richards takes a holding penalty at 18:06.

Flyers folding up. They have outshot the Bruins, 35-27, and while Thomas has been his usual superb self in the Bruin net, it's hard to say just where all those shots were. A very quiet Flyer team. And where is James van Riemsdyk, the absolute star of the Flyer effort in Game 2??

With 7:09 in the third, Thomas gives up huge rebound on Danny Briere's stinging shot from the right side, and the puck comes out to Sean O'Donnell at the left circle. But everybody is crashing the net, and when O'Donnell slices his shot to the goal, it has been knocked out of place by a sliding Mike Richards. No goal.

More than half of the third period gone, and Flyers can't solve Tim Thomas. The man simply won't give up any space at the posts.

Bobrovsky remains in goal for Flyers for third.

I just passed Cam Neely in the press box, and his grin was so broad, for a second I thought it was Nathan Horton.

Second Period

Bruins get their second power play opportunity when Timmonen is called for hooking at 17:29. No dice. B's are 0 for 2 on the power play in the game, 0 for 31 in the playoffs.

2d period - 16:36 - Boston 4, Philadelphia 1 - Andrei Meszaros gets the Flyers on the board with a snap shot from the left circle, shooting the puck over Tim Thomas's right shoulder as Flyer Blair Betts takes out Johnny Boychuk and the tumbling pair provide a screen.

2d period - 15:14 -Boston 4, Philadelphia 0 - Bruins knock Brian Boucher out of the game for the second time in the series on Nathan Horton's fifth goal of the playoffs. Horton, sent into the Flyer zone by David Krejci, skates to the right to shoot around defenseman Kimmo Timmonen. Even as Horton's shot settled into the back of the goal cage, Sergei Bobrovsky was coming off the bench to replace Boucher.

2d period - 13:39 - Boston 3, Philadelphia 0 - Daniel Paille gives the Bruins a 3-0 lead, knocking in a one-timer on the left side off a cross-zone feed from Gregory Campbell. Boychuk gets the play started, picking off a Flyer cross-zone pass in the Bruins zone, to break up a rush toward Thomas and simultaneously push a pass up to Campbell, who carried down the right wing.

No, not this time, but Bruins do get set up in Flyer zone for a couple of chances: Boychuk rips a shot from the left point that is blocked and Bergeron shoots wide from in close.

Bruins get a power-play chance at 7:05 when James van Riemsdyk is called for high sticking. Will this be the one for the 0-for-28 PP?

First real fight of this series: Nathan Horton and Sean O'Donnell (former Bruin) go toe-to-toe in a long bout at 3:31. Both draw fighting penalties.

Bruins are starting to rack up some point streaks: David Krejci has a goal tonight, giving him 4-2--6 in three straight games.

Brad Marchand has an assist, extending his point streak to four games with 3-3--6 and 4-5--9 in six of his last seven.

Patrice Bergeron has an assist, extending his point and assist streaks to four games with 3-3--6 totals in that span and 2-10--12 in eight of his last nine games.

Nathan Horton has an assist, extending his point streak to four games with 2-3--5 totals and 3-3--6 in five of his last six games.

First Period

Flyers outshoot Bruins, 12-10, in the first, and Bruins outscore Flyers, 2-0. Flyers will open second period on the power play.

Only 16 seconds left in the period, and Bergeron is called for hooking. Second power play for Flyers.

WIth 2:15 to play in the first, Flyers have outshot Bruins, 11-9, but the Bruins own this period. After scoring twice in the first 1:03, they have been handing out punishing hits like candy at a parade - Johnny Boychuk, Horton, and Brad Marchand all pasting Flyers into the boards and stirring up their teammates and the crowd.

Lucic draws a goaltender interference penalty at 9:00 just after Nathan Horton's shot rings loudly off the iron on the right side of the Bruins' net. Flyers unable to score on the man advantage.

Patrice Bergeron picks up an assist on the Bruins' second goal for his 12th point of the playoffs, which ties him for the postseason points lead with Flyer Claude Giroux.

1st period - 1:03 - Boston 2, Philadelphia 0 - And it takes another 33 seconds for the Bruins to keep it rocking, another feed out from behind the net, this time Milan Lucic sending the puck to David Krejci, who taps in his fifth goal of the playoffs at 1:03.

1st period - 0:30 - Boston 1, Philadelphia 0 - It took 30 seconds for the Bruins to get this party started, Zdeno Chara cranking a shot from the top of the left circle over Flyer goalie Brian Boucher's shoulder. The backhand feed came from Brad Marchand on the wall behind the Flyer goal. It is the first goal of the postseason for Chara.
