Bin Laden, who was living in Afghanistan before a 2001 U.S.-led invasion helped topple its Taliban regime, was holed up in a million-dollar mansion built especially for him in the military garrison town of Abbottabad in Pakistan before Sunday's operation to kill him.
"Well I think the latest information is that he was in this compound for the past five or six years and he had virtually no interaction with others outside that compound. But yet he seemed to be very active inside the compound," White House counterterrorism chief John Brennan said on the CBS Early Show program.
"And we know that he had released videos and audios. We know that he was in contact with some senior al-Qaida officials," Brennan added.
"So what we're trying to do now is to understand what he has been involved in over the past several years, exploit whatever information we were able to get at the compound and take that information and continue our efforts to destroy al-Qaida," Brennan added.
The fact that the al-Qaida chief had lived in the compound for such a long time has prompted some U.S. lawmakers to demand a review of the billions of dollars in aid the United States provides Pakistan, which is fighting a Taliban insurgency.

If the president of Pakistan maintains that he is not primary to his security all these years, he should be chased out of that office by every Pakistani military and civilian into a dungeon because he is not fit to stand behind a ruler.
The gracious president was clearly aware of the falling polls, especially after the killing of Gadaffi son and and grandchildren. The JSOC-Joint Special Operations Command had already confirmed months ago that Bin Laden was in residence at the targeted compound. Therefore, one must surmise it was a political choice, one that could well backfire. However, the training of US Navy SEALS especially the DevGru unit, under the command of Vice Admiral William XXXXX were ordered into the theatre aboard two upgraded XX-60 helos of which one was destroyed due to mechanical failures. A successful op, no doubt, Bin Laden was shot twice on the left side of his face, the polls now will rise in favour of this gutsy president. The SEAL motto: "The only easy day was yesterday", For the White House;" Yesterday covered all our past mistakes". Good day from snowy Swiss Alps.
There is an important lesson to be learned from Bin Laden's death - especially by our Right-Wing, or more accurately, by our 'hawks'. Had Bin Laden kept hiding in some remote cave, in austerity, he would probably still be alive. But his penchant for wealth and the material pleasures it can buy, led to his downfall - the million-dollar compound he lived in, just outside Islamabad, was bound to attract attention, sooner or later. Likewise, those prophets of doom among us who warn that Ahminajad of Iran would risk everything to launch an atomic attack on Israel - including the certainty that Israel would send many of his major towns back to the Stone Age - should take note.
Why do you think they disposed of a (not "the") body so quickly? To destroy the evidence of their deception!!! DNA "evidence" is NO evidence. A drop of blood?? From what medical lab and how many years old? Believe me: we'll be hearing more of Osama bin Laden.
Obama and Clinton are so proud of this extra-territorial (violates another country's sovereignty) non-judicial killing by the USA – yet they would (and do) condemn Israel for doing the same. Hypocrites. Predictably, our beloved neighbor, Hamas, continues to condemn the “assassination” of an “Arab holy warrior.”
My opinium is not. I watched news on TV last night. BALA BLA BLA ... EASY EASY EASY. DONT GET FOOL INTO WHAT EVER YOU HEAR.
