A Brunch Menu for Wedding Watching

Tuesday April 26, 2011

My girls are on spring break this week, but on Friday we won't be sleeping in. Instead of sleeping in, I plan to drag them out of bed to watch the royal wedding. As I see it, this is a rare historic event and I don't want them to miss it. I've heard that many people will be taking off work to watch the wedding and hosting parties. If that's your plan for this Friday, then this Wimbledon-watching Brunch Menu will also work for royal-wedding-watching.

Mix Up a Margarita, Free of Guilt

Monday April 25, 2011

"Guilt Free" Partida Margarita - Margarita RecipeEaster is over, and Passover is almost done, but we won't be short on party opportunities for the next several weeks. That's because next week we have Cinco de Mayo, the Kentucky Derby and Mother's Day, all in the span of a few days. Are you exhausted yet? With all of that partying on the horizon, it's nice to find ways to lighten up the cocktails so that we don't feel too guilty while enjoying ourselves. The folks from Partida Tequila have shared this recipe for a "Guilt Free" Partida Margarita which, in my opinion, loses nothing in the taste while saving calories.

Start to Plan Your Family Reunion

Friday April 22, 2011

Families have been gathering this week for Passover and will continue to get together over the weekend for Easter Sunday celebrations. But if you live too far away to see your family over these holidays, you might want to create your own special family "holiday" by planning a family reunion for the summer when family members have more leisure time to travel since they can take time off from work and school. Here's how to begin planning your family reunion.

Could Meatballs Be the Next Cupcake?

Monday April 18, 2011

Meatball TongsHave you noticed? Everyone is looking for the next cupcake. As soon as it's declared that gourmet doughnuts will fill that slot, someone else says gourmet whoopie pies will take the spotlight. Macarons are a big trend, but I don't think you'll find macaron stands opening in every mall, do you? On the other hand, meatballs seem to be popping up on a lot of menus and showing up in all of the cooking magazines. So I've decided that meatballs may be the next cupcake. And just take a look at these handy meatball tongs that are now being sold at Williams-Sonoma. They make a perfectly shaped meatball every time.

Time for a Comfort Dinner

Monday April 18, 2011

It's Tax Day, a stressful time no matter which side you fall on, owing or owed. All of those forms, with a deadline attached, stress me out, and I know that I'm not alone in feeling that way. Only comfort food will do today, which is why I'm recommending you host a Comfort Food Dinner Party. You'll feel much better once you enjoy these comfort food favorites - I know I always do.

Going Green for Springtime and for Earth Day

Friday April 15, 2011

It's no mystery why Earth Day was scheduled in April. We become so excited about the earth waking up after a long winter that it's worthy of a celebration. In honor of this lovely holiday, I've put together ways you can host parties that are "green." And if you're a teacher, room parent, part of a homeschool group, or just want to celebrate with the kids in your life, you can follow this Earth Day Party plan. Happy Spring!

Create Simple, Sensational Centerpieces

Thursday April 14, 2011

As I've been driving around my town over the past several days, going about my usual parental chauffeuring duties, I can't help but feel like I've been dropped into some kind of fairy world. All of the trees seem to be puffy and pastel. We've entered the time of year when it's much easier to create Simple, Sensational Centerpieces with items from our gardens and around the house. I encourage you to give it a try for your upcoming holiday celebrations. Read More...
