If you're a PlayStation fan, you've probably heard the news that the entire PSN network fell prey to a hacker attack in April, compromising millions of users and their sensitive data (see PlayStation Network Hack Attack - Sensitive Data Compromised for more information). An estimated 77 million PSN users were affected by this breach.
Many people, including myself, use their PSN system to get on the Web and do all sorts of fun things: watch videos, check various search engines, play games, etc. If you are a PlayStation user, you'll want to check your security settings pronto. Monitor your credit card and bank accounts, and if you're using the same password at PSN that you use at other places, such as your financial institution, change them, now.
Various sources are now saying that the PSN network should be back up soon, as in sometime this week. That's a vague report, and unfortunately that's all I've got right now. However, these same sources report that the powers that be at Sony Playstation are beefing up security and making plans so that this egregious breach of sensitive user data does not happen again.
What do you think about the PSN data breach? Have you been affected in some way? Please leave your comments in the comments section below.
