Summary:(Studio) Nicaragua officials issue urgent appeal for blood donors. Need 20,000-25,000 pints whole blood for victims Saturday's earthquake in Managua. United States sends $3 million in supplies.

(Managua, Nicaragua) 90% city completely destroyed. Few bldgs. left will be razed because unsafe. [Commander-in-chief Armed Forces Anastasio SOMOZA - says will live in tents until government decides what to do.] Martial law declared. Somoza personally overseeing demolition operations. Mass inoculation campaign underway. Estimate of deaths is 2000 now, but mounts as clearing of city continues and more bodies found. People have no water or food. Bodies found burned for health reasons.
