Ghana's midfileder Kevin-Prince Boateng feels proud after helping AC Milan win their first Serie A title since 2004 but said he needs a holiday as soon as possible following the season's exertions.

Milan ended their league drought following a goalless draw with AS Roma on Saturday to break Inter Milan’s five-year stranglehold on the competition.

"Winning the title makes me proud but now I just want to rest," Boateng, 24, was quoted as saying by the Ghanaian Football Association’s official website on Sunday.

"I've really had to push myself but I'm physically and mentally tired. I need a holiday.”

Boateng joined Milan last summer from English side Portsmouth and settled in quickly to play an instrumental role in leading his club to the long-awaited victory.

It was the first title in the club career of Boateng, who also excelled during Ghana’s World Cup campaign in South Africa last year where they reached the quarter finals before losing to Uruguay.

"It's difficult to find words for the way I'm feeling right now. It's unbelievable. I want to dedicate the title to my wife and child," he said.

"We've put up with a lot of pressure in the past few months. It's not been easy but we showed we can do it.

"It's been an unbelievable year of ups and downs, but it was not easy in the beginning. I had to get into the team, learn a new language and a different style of football.

"My teammates helped me along the way and it's a great feeling to have something to show for all the effort," he concluded.
