Non-Degree Program

Visiting, Non-Degree Students in Graduate-Level Courses (350 or Higher)
The visiting, non-degree student program was established so that qualified students with a completed undergraduate degree from an accredited institution (and, typically, with a cumulative GPA of 3.00, solid "B," or higher) might enroll in 1-2 graduate-level classes during the fall or spring semesters for their own benefit or, in some cases, to complete a few prerequisites for graduate-level programs to which they are applying.  To enroll in graduate-level courses during the summer, visiting students must apply and be accepted through the Summer School

This program is not intended for long-term enrollment.  Therefore, students can complete a maximum of 9 credits while in this status.  Students hoping to enroll in additional coursework should apply directly to the graduate program of interest to them.  Permission to enroll in the visiting program does not confer or imply admission to any graduate program at Georgetown University, regardless of the grade(s) earned in these courses.  Even if a student is later accepted into a Georgetown graduate program, that student should keep in mind that credits earned in this status might not be allowed to transfer into that degree program.

If you are interested in the visiting, non-degree program, please complete the Registration Request Process on the "Fees and Registration" page at least two weeks prior to the first day of classes for the requested semester.  We also encourage you to read the academic and administrative policies that apply to all visiting students under "Resources and Policies."

Please note:  Students currently enrolled in colleges or universities within the Consortium of Universities of the Washington Metropolitan Area should follow the procedures described on the Registrar's Office website to seek permission to enroll in courses.
