Comments of the Moment

“ yes it would be fun to be a **STAR** but i would still want privacy. I don't want the whole world to know about my whole life. Yes, you would get lots of money but if you look at most of the famous teenagers lives now, they are sucked into the "bad things". ”

“ I found out about Osama bin Laden’s death by Facebook so it was unbelievable. Then I started noticing it was all over the news and true.”
— Jasmin
What Is Your Reaction to the Death of Osama bin Laden?
“ When a soldiers return home, their lives are never the same. The poem "End of Market Day" by Judith Harris starts out in an ordinary market setting. Then it tells of the son with the prosthetic leg, and the entire outlook of the poem changes. The rest of the world continues to move forward, and this man with the prosthetic leg is still in the war in his own small way. ”

“ Especially when I traveled back to my country during the vacations, I was always excited because of the fact that I was in a place where people used the language I used, and looked the same as me. ”

“ I am a proud brother of a fraternity. I do not drink or partake of drugs, and I'm incredibly modest when it comes to relationships. I do my utmost to treat everyone, male or female, with respect and dignity, and a gentleman should. The key point I'm trying to make here is that everyone's different...One cannot judge all by the actions of few.”

“ What annoys me is when people complain about what annoys them.”

What Annoys You?
“ What annoys me the most is when: ~ People chew with the mouth open ~ People talk while they are eating ~ People make loud sounds when they are eating ~ People wear the colors black and brown together ~ Somebody wearing a nice dress and then sneakers ~ The people in front of you walk too slow ~ People use double negatives ~ People say they have something important to say, then forget ”

“ I find it insulting that Obame thinks we want to see the photos as some sort of endzone dance football spike. We want to see the photos because we want closure. Obama is content, in the oval office, in the knowledge that Osama is dead. But the American people in general do not deserve the same knowledge? We do not deserve to see the proof for ourselves and make up our own minds? Have we not suffered? Has this man's actions not affected all of us? Do we not deserve the right to know? ”

“ I have two huge pet peeves that drive me absolutely nuts. My biggest is when people use q-tips and throw them on the floor instead of in the trash. My brother does it all the time and I freak out on him every time it’s really annoying. My other thing is when people hoods are inside out, I fix them even I don’t know the person. I think I've freaked out a few people.”

What Annoys You?
“ The only time travel has really affected me was when my family went on a cruise. It was only a year after Katrina had hit Florida and there was still obvious devastation everywhere it was actually kind of sad. If that wasn’t enough when we got to the Bahamas there was a lot of poverty. The thing that most affected me on that trip was when a little boy came up to us and asked f he could sing a song for $5. He couldn’t have been any older then 6 or 7. We gave him $15 and we didn’t even make him sing for us”

“ I received about 2 years of cursive instruction and I think it was a huge waste of time. I have never, ever been required to write in cursive. The elementary teachers would always say that we were required to write in cursive in middle school, but we never were. ”
— Clark V.
Do You Write in Cursive?
“ There are several things that drive me nuts. People who hit the brakes way too late when they are driving, people that are happy all the time, people that scream for no reason, people who just randomly say something that has no relevance at all, and when someone is constantly complaining. ”
— Matt S
What Annoys You?
“ Learning in cursive in elementary was a big deal. As we were taught, we were told we were always going to use this writing in high school and it is very important to learn. Now, as a junior in high school I do not remember how to write in cursive, at all. ”
— Jaymi
Do You Write in Cursive?
“ Such a complex issue: terrorism, middle east, political Islam, foreign policy, and on and on and on. As a middle school history teacher I have felt the initial tug and responsibility of covering this topic in class--we have done so, with some background on the U.S. historical involvement in the middle east, and have regretfully labeled the unit "Terrorism". I find myself in a bit of a quandary, however; I can't seem to figure out how to best reach the students so that they are equipped with the information they need to generate the discussions that are necessary for the us to be the change.... Any thoughts on how to address this complex issue in a simple way to 8th graders who are just ready to move on to high school...thanks for any advice.”

“ I personally don't know if I would want to see the photos, but I know I don't want more disruption in our country over conspiracies. ”
