While everyone is praising the cloud as the next IT delivery platform, some cautionary comments – the Soviet Union and capitalism’s world financial services have provided perfect demonstrations from opposite ends of the political spectrum of how normal human behaviour, combined with the herd instinct and a consequent lack of redundancy can lead to impressive systemic implosions at a country and global level. In this case the patient may get more than a passing headache.
As history teaches us, it is always going to be different this time round …
