Pincus' view into the future of our relationships is already in the minds of many, particularly those in the IT industry. One of the highest adoption rates of social media sites like Facebook, LinkedIn, Plaxo is claimed by IT vendors and other producers and marketers of high tech products and services. Today, there exist few standards of behavior, let alone industry-wide standards pertaining to the creation and management of company social media pages. A colleague of mine, Pete Elliot at Key Information Systems in California, keeps telling me, "This is the way of communicating to our own people, our clients, our community and our industry in the very near future!" A long-time industry seer in the IBM world, I think he's on to something.....it's going to be a lot sooner than 2035.
