Former Tunisia coach Faouzi Benzarti has been appointed the new coach of Club Africain after agreeing a two-year deal without disclosing the financial details.

“Benzarti will sign a two year-contract that will run until June 2013,” Club Africain’s spokesman Khames Balrhoma told Reuters.

Benzarti replaces Kais Yacoubi who was sacked last week after the club’s elimination from the last 16 of the CAF African Champions league.

The 61-year old Benzerti has been out of work since leaving his post at Tunisa’s Esperance in November 2010.

Benzerti led Club Africain twice before in the 1989/1990 and 1999/2000 seasons. He lead them to the domestic league title in his first stint at the club.

Club Africain are currently fifth in the Tunisian league table with 26 points, 14 behind leaders Esperance.
