The Derby is over so it is time to look at the
Preakness on May 21st at Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore. A full field of 14 looks almost certain at this point with many of the Derby horses moving on and several new shooters hoping to get in the game.

Animal Kingdom rallied from 12th early to win the
Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs by 2 3/4 lengths over Nehro and Mucho Macho Man with pacesetter Shackleford fourth. Lukewarm favorite Dialed In never fired and finished 8th.

He still isn't right and they aren't sure exactly what is wrong, so he was scratched Friday morning. They said he was physically sound but something internally isn't right and hasn't yet been diagnosed. The 3 veterinarians who have been treating him did not say not to run him, but trainer Todd Pletcher made the final recommendation not to run taking his long term health into consideration. "It is very, very disappointing," Pletcher said.
