I remember several discussions about some of the guides where we usually fished. Flamingo, in the Everglades National Park, was home base for several very good guides. It still is today, but somehow they don't measure up to the legends I remember.

Watch the Tides!

Every time I head out from a ramp, I look at the tide situation and I tell myself - I need to do a piece on watching the tides.

This time I'm not talking necessarily about fishing, rather about safe boating. I took a picture as I headed out on the last trip, of the channel entrance and the local marker that shows the way. Later that afternoon when I came back in I took another picture - this one at low tide - to try and show you where boaters can make some very big mistakes.
