PKR lodges report against Umno leaders and reps

KUALA TERENGGANU: PKR’s national youth wing has lodged a police report against Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, his deputy Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and 23 Barisan state assemblymen from Terengganu for alleged treacherous statements against the Yang di-Pertuan Agong who is the Terengganu Sultan.

The wing’s national deputy chief Fariz Musa, together with five of the opposition party’s members, lodged a police report at 4.45pm at the district police station yesterday.

Fariz claimed the report was made based on statements made by the Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Minister and the assemblymen in Utusan Malaysia and Berita Harian published yesterday.

He said the statements were contemptuous, disrespectful and overboard, and made against the monarchy.

“Even if Umno disagrees with the appointment, they should not be issuing insulting statements against the palace,” he said.

Meanwhile, Terengganu PAS commissioner Datuk Mustafa Ali told The Star that the opposition party fully supported the move by the palace to appoint Kijal assemblyman Datuk Ahmad Said as Mentri Besar.

He said local folk must firmly stand behind the decision made by the palace as he believed the decision (appointing Ahmad) was in accordance with the real wishes of the people.

Mustafa said PAS believed that the palace’s decision to appoint Ahmad was justified.
