Program Description:

  • Does your organization need to change?
  • Do you lead or manage change?
  • Have you been hired or engaged to help with organizational change?
  • Do you need to know how to move an organization toward change?

Organizations are rapidly changing and the ability to stay abreast of local, national and global changes is increasingly more difficult, and as a result, organizations are increasingly engaging consulting expertise on how to create, manage, and sustain positive change. Consulting to organizations undergoing change is a rapidly expanding field now representing a $345 billion dollar industry, according to Plunkett Research estimates.

The Georgetown University Executive Certificate in Organizational Consulting and Change Leadership will provide you with the knowledge, skills, tools, and perspectives to support and coach organizations in managing and sustaining effective change efforts that achieve desired business objectives. Change initiatives, using organization development processes, enable businesses to fully leverage and engage their human capital resources to foster more functional workplace dynamics and enable higher levels of productivity and effectiveness organization-wide.

The Organizational Consulting and Change Leadership program focuses on building the consulting and coaching skills necessary for creating high performance organizations while also paying attention to its human resources. Additional meeting times with faculty are arranged to fit the schedules of participants. This executive certificate is a cohort program and classes cannot be taken independently of the certificate program. Participants are required to complete all courses to earn the certificate. The program targets a national and international audience of organizational leaders and practicing consultants.

Supplementing the 22 days of in-person classes, participants will complete written assignments and significant outside reading throughout the program. Participants will also gain valuable experience within a supervised team structure, consulting to an actual client organization selected for the program.

While learning and applying the tenets of organizational consulting and change leadership, you will receive coaching and advising from your Learning Team Advisor, who is a practitioner in the field and from members of your Learning Team. Each session will include time for shared learning related to issues that participants are facing with their clients.

Estimated level of effort outside the classroom is 10 - 20 hours per week throughout the seven (7) month program. The Organizational Consulting and Change Leadership program culminates with an oral debrief and critique of the client consulting experience, including observations from the consulting team, and a final written paper of 20 to 25 pages in length.
