TUNIS (TAP)- National Army and Guard units managed on Wednesday morning at about 6:55 A.M, in collaboration with local residents, to identify a group of three armed terrorists in the northern town of Rouhia (governorate of Siliana), the Interior Ministry reported in a communiqué released on Wednesday.

The terrorists had taken refuge in a place located near Rouhia and opened fire on the National Army and Guard units, injuring three military personnel. Two of them died including a senior officer.  During the clash, two terrorists were killed and a third one escaped.

The fingerprints and DNA of the two terrorists killed confirmed they were Tunisian nationals, the communiqué reads.  These terrorists were identified thanks to the efforts expended over the last days by the security forces and the Army who were on the trail of people had recently infiltrated the Tunisian territory.

The Ministries of the Interior and National Defence called for vigilance on the part of all citizens, particularly public transport drivers and road users, urging them to inform the services concerned about any suspicious person so as to preserve the national territorial integrity.
