Refugee_Camp-of-Shusha370MEDENINE (TAP) - A large number of Shusha Camp refugees blocked, on Monday afternoon, national road n°1.

These African refugees wished to exert pressure on the United Nations organisations and governments to speed up their evacuation.

Mr. Firas Kayal, Spokesman for the UNHCR, told Tunis-Afrique Presse (TAP) news agency that the UN organisation made all necessary efforts to evacuate the refugees who are seeking political asylum, adding that HCR is presently studying files of refugees with the hosting countries.

The UN received, so far, positive responses for 900 asylum applications in several countries, notably in Europe. It urges these countries to see to increasing their quotas, especially that the number of political asylum seekers stands at more than 3,000.
