Welcome

Who minors in Catholic Studies?

Students who want to graduate with an adult understanding of what it is to look at the world through the lens of the Catholic imagination.

What are the requirements for a minor in Catholic Studies?

Six courses:
  • The Catholic Imagination (CATH-117)
This course need not be taken before beginning elective courses, but it must be completed before beginning the Capstone Tutorial (CATH-301). A description and syllabus of the course can be found here.
  • Four approved electives
These electives are chosen by the student in consultation with the program director, Fr. Ryan Maher, SJ. This year, such electives are available in 8 different departments, covering a wide range of topics. The list of this year's electives is available here.
  • Catholic Studies Capstone Tutorial (CATH-301)
The Capstone Tutorial gives the student the opportunity to develop a project which examines in depth some question or topic through the lens of the Catholic imagination. Many students choose to investigate links between their major or their proposed careers and Catholicism. Throughout the semester, Capstone students will meet in seminar format with Father Maher to engage in roundtable discussions of their work.
