Filming is under way on a television series about the life of late Spanish singer and actress Rocio Jurado, sources at Spain's Antena 3 network told Efe.

The two-part series, which takes its name from one of Jurado's songs, "Como alas al viento," features Eva Almaya, Helena Salgado and Carmen Navarro depicting the singer at different stages of her life.

Rafael Rojas portrays Jurado's second husband, retired bullfighter Jose Ortega Cano, who remains hospitalized in serious condition after being injured last weekend in a car accident.

The role of the singer's first husband, champion boxer Pedro Carrasco, is played by Javier Mora.

Filming began May 18 in the southern town of Chipiona, where the future superstar was born in 1946.

Rocio Carrasco, the daughter of Jurado and Pedro Carrasco, is consulting on the series, Antena 3 Films director Mercedes Gamero told Efe.

Jurado, known for a powerful voice well-suited to both flamenco and Spanish folk songs, was beloved in Spain and Latin America. She died June 1, 2006, in Madrid after a two-year battle with pancreatic cancer.
