popeater.com:

You have a great line in the book about God.

Well I don't believe in religion let's put it that way. I believe all religions are bad. I think they're a waste of time. Jesus was a clever man. He wasn't the son of God. We all know that he was a very clever, wonderful man and he said, 'Church is in here meaning you are your own church.' If you're a good man you become contended, if you're a good person your dying breath is one of contentment that lasts for eternity and if you're a bad man and you've lived a bad life, you've done some wicked and evil things just for the heck of it, well that will hit you on your last breath of life, that's hell. Now, listen, this is the universe according to Brian and I'm probably as wrong as anybody but I'm as right as anybody else. All religions make money and cause troubles and war and death and I'm tired of it. Stop now! Enjoy your life!

Wisdom is often simple and succinct.
Thankyou Brian!

He knocks it out of the park. Religion is the opiate of the masses. There isn't a good one out there.

sorry but he is not an authority on Jesus. Like their music but it gets really boring to listen to sometimes, most the time they just repeat one phrase as in 'dirty deeds". Would tend to take anything this man says with a grain of salt.

I tend to take anything anyone says with a grain of salt but Brian is a pretty forthright individual and doesn't have an agenda when he is interviewed which would make him a better person to be around and listen to when he speaks. I don't think he was trying to be authoritative on Jesus, anyway, and I don't think anyone is for that matter.

I would take the word of someone
who uses his/her opinion
about a person's music, livelihood,
or other unrelated attribute
to suggest that it invalidates his non-religious views
with a grain of salt.

pffft.

The religion comment is not what this interview was about. It was a blurb and was not anti god in any way. Well maybe a bit anti christian but even that was softened up with his true beliefs. I found the interview to be very charming and he seems like a truly likable fellow. I wish him much success.

Organized religion is really mostly about man not about God. Fallible humans to be more specific. So it should not be surprising that religions are bad and that they do good along with the bad.

What should be considered is this: if religions were as "true", as "moral", as "God-given" as they proclaim, one would think that one of the many flavors would have a better record than the white wash spin they present to cover up for their shortcomings and hypocrisy.

Given their history, all religions, particularly the big three, have failed God miserably.

We would all be better served if they stopped killing each other, stopped trying to convert others, tried some humility instead of arrogance and cleaned up their own houses.

Religions are pyramid schemes
They profit by luring others into
the single brain mindset.

It is very arrogant and selfrighteous for "religious people" whether Christians or Muslims or any other to tell the rest of humanity " If you don't believe this way or that way you will not go to Heaven". Give me a break!!!!! How dare they??????
I tell them that if there is a God or a Heaven that god will never be like them!!!!!

I don't fault them for it. The truly christian etc. don't do it for hate. It's a central pillar of their belief system and they want for you good things as well so they try and share it.

We are all free to believe as we choose, and we’re also free to condemn each other’s beliefs, no matter how poorly-founded or childish it may be to do so.

War is for profit...misuse of religion is for control.
...and religion has caused ALL wars.
6 hours ago (1:56 PM)
the spanish civil war was not caused by religion , neither was Vietnam or the english civil war , or the US war of independance , or WW1.........religion has caused many millions of deaths but it is not the ONLY cause of war.

that is true, the sad part is that instead of dealing with the issue at hand, bloggers seem to verbally attack the person with the view instead of sticking to the topic.

Good or bad, I consider revealed religion to be the greatest hoax ever perpetrated against humanity. Quite aside from questions of the existence of a deity (or multiple deities) or any kind of afterlife. The only higher mind of which we are aware is our own--thus any responsibility some might like to accede to a "God" rightfully belongs to us. Expecting a deity to take care of us, rather than learning to take care of ourselves--and one another (not to mention the rest of "creation")--is an abdication of responsibility. And one we have made for too many centuries to count. It's about time we make another choice.
