BRENTWOOD, Tenn. — Country music star Trace Adkins lost his home to a fire Saturday afternoon.

Adkins' spokeswoman said in a statement to The Associated Press that the singer and actor was headed to Alaska to perform when his house caught fire. He was on his way back to Tennessee late Saturday.

His wife, Rhonda, and their daughters were not injured.

Fire officials told The Tennessean newspaper that Adkins' home in this suburb south of Nashville was a total loss. The blaze was reported at 3:35 p.m. and firefighters responded within minutes.

"Trace wishes to express his gratitude for the immediate response of the Brentwood Fire Department and is humbled by the outpouring of concern from friends and fans." Adkins spokeswoman Tiffany Shipp said in an email.

Adkins is scheduled to play the CMA Music Festival next Saturday.

Losing old photos that haven't been digitally archived can be a very emotional experience.
But his music awards and material irksome are obviously replaceable.

Those deep pockets within the country music world, will quickly come to his aide.

I have a feeling that The Donald will find some way to try to attach his name to this story.

This not so smartphone is really starting to get annoying with the typos.
Now I'm going to have to turn off a function that is intended to be very useful.

Irksome is supposed to be, items. Material items.

What the H ELL is an irksome?

Man, that sucks. Always sad news to read.
I'm wishing him good fortune on this. My aunt's house burned down several years ago, it was devastating to her on so many levels. It's never easy for anyone, regardless of their income. Some things can't be replaced.

Adkins is a die-hard Republican.

I bet he hoped his taxpayer-funded fire dept. had gotten there in time, too.

Nominally.

I suppose on a biological level, but...yeah, maybe I'll just leave it at that.

i wonder what song he'll write after this one.

You should ask him in person.
12:57 PM on 6/06/2011
you got his cell number, I would'nt mind given him a ring.

That's a tough thing to go though I'm sure. I couldn't even imagine what it would be like to lose so many of my precious belongings. His poor girls losing their personal items, their bedrooms. I'm sure he's got another house somewhere, at least they won't be homeless. If you have to go through something like that it helps to have the money to rebuild and replace.what you can. My prayers go out to his family.

I'm glad his family is all right. That's such a scary thing to happen to someone.

Trace seemed like a truly good guy on Celebrity Apprentice. I'm sorry this happened and I am sure with his solid character he will bounce back from this misfortune without flinching.

I am so sorry this happened to you. I am sure you are insured with the money you make but there is so much that is irreplaceable. That is the heartache. Nobody was hurt. That is the blessing. Prayers to you and your family.

I agree. Insurance does not cover the trauma.

OMG, I love this guy. He is such a gentle and sweet soul. I watched him on celebrity apprentice, not knowing who he was and he was gracious, smart, humble and got along well with everyone, he played well and made it into the top two.
His family is just precious.
I am sorry this happened to him and his family, thank goodness no one was hurt.

Insurance fraud?
05:56 PM on 6/05/2011
Why on earth would you suggest that?

Why on earth would you question my suggestion?

This man is sha-mokin' loaded (pardon the pun). He could tear down and rebuild this cabin a 100 times and still not threated the interest on his net worth.

"Loaded" people commit criminal acts all the time, what's your point?
04:41 PM on 6/05/2011
Just to clarify...the house on the HGTV show was not the one that burned down. The one in the video is his "country retreat."

Glad his family was unhurt, but I don't see him crying too much about losing that monstrosity.
03:38 PM on 6/05/2011
Thx for sharing the link -- it was a beautiful home in a beautiful setting. i don't think it was a "monstrosity" at all. nothing like some of the homes i've seen -- in fact - - quite modest by comparison.

They lost all their family photos -- including those of their wedding -- and that was the wife's biggest loss. Photos are irreplacable -- too sad.

What the story here doesn't tell you is that the three girls were saved by a fire safety class that they had in school just a few months ago.
As instructed, the family tied a yellow ribbon to a tree - as their "safe" place to go -- and that's exactly what the girls and their nanny did.
The mother was on her way home and was just a few minutes away when the fire broke out.

The fire dept which conducted the school safety class is the same one which fought the house fire.

They know they are blessed to have escaped with their family intact.
God Bless!

It's nice to know that some basic survival skills are taught. When I was young, our plan was to make sure we stood near the end of the driveway so if our parents came home during a fire they would see us right as the drove up. I don't think a lot of families have evacuation plans in place.

I think a different house burned.

Just saw a clip on that house on HGTV.
