Posted: 06/ 3/11 03:45 PM ET

Any professional or amateur cook knows that fresh herbs are the secret to a delicious meal. But that also goes for great cocktails.

And we don't just mean a sprig of mint in a Mojito or Julep. A wide variety of herbs can add exotic flavor to a mixed drink. Don't believe us? Try some of these tasty concoctions.

Fresh thyme has a deep vegetal aroma that, surprisingly, is a perfect partner for sweet ingredients. It brings out the fruity and floral flavors in juices, liqueurs and muddled berries. Enjoy it with blueberries in the all-organic Country Thyme (pictured above) or with riesling wine in the Melk Abbey.
