This is a best figure?

3-4 million: Macs sold each quarter

That is laughable. There were ~85 million computers sold last quarter. And Apple sold less then 5% of that market. The iPad is cannibalizing their own laptop sales.

Wrong. Apple's laptop division has shown 28% annual growth. Windows based laptops? 5% growth. Windows based Desktops? NEGATIVE 5% growth. Mac desktops? Neutral. iPad growth? Massive. Windows tablet growth? Non existent. Android tablet growth? Non-existent.

Apple is growing faster than the competition in EVERY field but smartphones where Android is beating them in numbers there and in hardware sales only. They are losing in add-on sales, developer payouts, applications submitted, applications approved, peripherals and so very much more. Good for Android. Symbian is still #1 world-wide because just like what Google is trying to do with Android, Nokia already did with Symbian over a decade ago and ported it to every single free after rebate phone they possibly could on the market. You can walk into a 7-11 and buy a Symbian powered "smartphone" for $30 with an included $25 calling card to get started. That doesn't mean it's higher quality, it means they are cheaper and thus more people will spend money on them. Does Wal-mart carry higher quality inventory than Pier 1, Best Buy, a local farmer's market, or really ANY of their competition? No. They win by brute force because tens of millions of neanderthals will buy from them to save a few cents on every item because they get cheap, plastic knockoffs. That's not anything worth bragging about, if anything it's something to be ashamed of...

Apple has 8.5% of the entire PC market (last quarter). They have never competed for the under $1000 category. For PC's over $1000 and up, Apple has a 90% share of that market. And that is why they make the money while the others don't.

Oh boy, what a patriot. Lets see how many more jobs we can create for China. Nobody seems to care about that fact.

Everything dealing with iCloud is on American data canters +r0//. Where's your vitriol towards MS for having even their release DVDs manufactured in China or Indonesia as well as their XBoxes, phones, keyboards, mice and joysticks hmmm? PS, all of which combined sell FAR more than Apple's entire hardware lineup. Where your outrage there +r0//?

Oh, and what about all of those Android phones? What about the HP, Sony, Dell, Toshiba, Samsung, Fujitsu and every single other major hardware OEM currently selling electronics in the US? Are they all off the hook even though they actually have ALL of their manufacturing, assembly, support and even their documentation print outs handled by China?

You're a rabid basher which is just as bad if not, in many cases, worse than being a fanboy. Educate yourself before forming your opinions in the future let alone speaking publicly on them.

Also Google and Apple are 2 of the biggest supporters of liberal causes (you know for the little people) yet they do everything to avoid paying what they should pay in taxes.

He could weigh 10 lbs and probably still easily slap some sense into your thick, rude skull.

They left out one stat from the conference: if you include Android, the browser share of Safari based code browsing the web on mobile is well over 90%.

You mean the share of open source Konqueror KHTML browser based code don't you?

If you're going to place ownership based on those guidelines, then you should really place it correctly.
3 hours ago (9:36 PM)
It may have originated there, but no developer confuses Konqueror with Webkit, especially not Google.

How about this stat,

1984 Apple's Macintosh Commercial. Its worth a look-see. Oozes with irony.

Perhaps you should look into the definition of what a "stat" is. A reference to a commercial is not a statistic.

Really HuffPo? E3 is ongoing and all that you keep covering is trivia about Apple?

"$24.99 per year: Cost of iTunes Match"

So while the iCloud service is supposedly free, that is only the case if you have purchased ALL of your music from the iTunes store. If you have even one piece of media that Apple didn't make money on it will cost you $25 a year to sync to the iCloud.

No. iTunes Match allows the users to upgrade their entire iTunes library to DRM-free, 256kbps, etc. quality files for a one-time fee of $25. Of course, the only applies to music that is in the iTunes library. But this is no way mandatory or necessary to use iCloud. iCloud is exactly what it has said it is; a free, cloud-based back-up/sync server. Whether it remains that way is to be seen.
10 hours ago (1:47 PM)
The "$24.99 per year" is not something I made up, it comes directly from Apple. iCloud will only 'match' your non-iTunes content as long as you continue to pay that $25 a year.

I am glad that you realize the very real possibility that the 'free' part is probably temporary. Much like the "Only $15 a month for the first 6 months" teasers to get people into a program.

If your music is already synced to your devices and you don't want any added features like the ability to pull playlists from the cloud to replace the music you have or whatever other use it has there is no reason to pay the $25 a year.

The service is free but if you find the premium service useful it is OPTIONAL.
