Sung-Bong Choi: Korea's Got Talent Audition Turns Into Incredible, Heartbreaking Performance (VIDEO)

Sungbong Choi Korea

The Huffington Post  Dean Praetorius  Posted: 06/ 6/11 02:19 PM ET

Not only is Song-bong Choi almost destined to be a instant sensation, but he's got an amazing story as well.

The song below, performed on Korea's Got Talent, brought tears to nearly every eye in the room. Choi's voice simply astounds, proving that you really never know who has an amazing talent.

But he's a bit more than the next Susan Boyle. Choi's story by itself could bring you tears.

He refers to himself as a "manual worker" and has been living on his own since he was five years old. At one point, he describes how he had to sleep in public restrooms to find shelter.

It's hard to watch the video of 22-year-old Choi's performance below and not be shocked, stunned, and touched.

Great story.

I don't know this kid but I can assure you that if there's anything fishy about his story as some naysayers suggest, the netizens in Korea would have already flushed him out in a heartbeat. They're brutal.

That being said, I pity those who are so quick to put someone down without knowing their facts...sad reflection of their part.

There's no controversy, really. The producers edited out the part of the taping where he explained he went to an arts high school where he took some voice classes, although many of them had no instructor, so he sat in the class and got his work done.

God, I hope he has the best life from here on out. What a story.

PS I'm not ashamed to say his story and performance had tears going down my cheeks.

I hope this gives him what his wonderful, humble, persevering being deserves.

BTW, I've been to Korea several times over the decades beginning in the 70's. Wonderful people IMO.

I too was in an orphanage as a kid. Music gave me a life.

I surely didn't have it as hard as he did. What a trooper.

God Bless Sung-Bong-Choi. Stories like his reach right inside my heart.

I'm Korean American but I have visited S. Korea. It is completely possible that this young man was homeless. Although S. Korea is an industrialized nation, they don't have the same social programs that we do. A person with no money is basically left to fend for themselves.

It definitely brought tears to my eyes. What he's gone through is amazing and yet the light in his soul shines so bright. What an amazing young man! He has a bright future. Julieanne Case, The Reconnective Highway

Thanks for the gift Sung-bong.

For the detractors, of course they knew the story ahead of time and wanted to milk it, what they didnt know is whether he could sing or not.

He also has some slight ticks as well but overall amazingly social for a homeless person.

Best of luck to him, these are the stories that give hope. A shining example of the power of art.

i think he was just scared and relieved at the same time that he was finished singing.
and remember, this kid prob is very humble and to hear this "princess" say she wants to hug him, he prob didn't know what to say.

O.K. I posted my first comment before seeing the dialogue at the end. He heard music in a nightclub. Well, more power to the young man. He deserves any break he gets.
