NEW YORK -  NBC Nightly News anchor and managing editor Brian Williams will take a walk on the lighter side, when he hosts "Saturday Night Live" on November 3 with musical guest Feist (10:30 p.m. - 12:00 a.m. on News 4 WOAI).

Williams, who made a memorable cameo appearance on last year's Season Premiere during "Weekend Update" joins an impressive roster of non-actor hosts throughout the show's long history including athletes (recently Peyton Manning, LeBron James) and politicians (Sen. John McCain, Vice President Al Gore, Mayor Rudy Giuliani) and fellow journalists (columnist Jimmy Breslin and NBC's Edwin Newman). Williams is the first network news anchor to host the program.

"I've watched SNL for 32 years, and first wrote to NBC for tickets after seeing the very first show on the air, as a student in high school. While I didn't quite believe it when Lorne first asked, I'm beyond thrilled to accept the invitation," said Williams. "It will be a chance to have some fun on my night off, and risk making a complete fool of myself. In the meantime, I'm going to concentrate on my day job and can't wait till November 3."

His coverage of Hurricane Katrina and the aftermath made Williams the most honored anchor in recent years, winning a Peabody, a Columbia DuPont, two Edward R. Murrow awards and his seventh Emmy. A former chief White House correspondent, Williams has also covered the war in Iraq and has traveled extensively, including a tour of several African nations with Bono.

Williams has been a frequent late night guest, appearing on NBC's "Tonight Show with Jay Leno" and "Late Night with Conan O'Brien" as well as on "Late Show with David Letterman" and "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart."

Joining Williams in making her SNL debut is Canadian singer-songwriter Feist. With a sound that crosses boundaries from folk to pop to jazz and rock, the critically adored indie-rocker is enjoying crossover success with the release of her third album "The Reminder." The record, praised as "one of the year's finest, plain and simple" by Vanity Fair. Feist is currently on the charts with her catchy current single "1,2,3,4" which is part of Apple's ubiquitous iPod nano commercials and is a top download on the company's music store.
