Erick Dampier, Other Heat Players Reportedly Attend Mavericks Championship Party

Mavericks Party Heat Players

Posted: 06/14/11 11:23 AM ET

Well, this is awkward. After the Dallas Mavericks won their first NBA title in franchise history, owner Mark Cuban reportedly spent $110,000 on drinks at their post-championship party.

The drinks weren't just purchased for members of the winning team, however. According to multiple reports, several Heat players were in attendance at Liv Nightclub in the Fontainebleau hotel.

ESPN 790 AM reported the rumor on Monday and Mavs.com writer Earl K. Snead tweeted that it was true.

Later on Monday, Snead tweeted that Miami's Erick Dampier was one of the Heat players partying with the Mavericks.

If the rumor really is true, then the Heat must have had fun because the Mavericks sure know how to party. Mavs star Dirk Nowitzki, who won the Finals MVP award, celebrated with a gigantic bottle of champagne.

Narrow-minded opener. Writer seems awkward with things that happen outside his box of experience.

Damp is a former Mavs center who I don't think played one second in the NBA Finals. So instead of getting playing time he got some party time instead with his former peeps. No biggie.

Yeah Erick Dampier is a former Mav who lost with the Mavs in '06 against the heat and went to the Heat only to lose with them this year against the Mavs lol.

Just shows that the Heat really did lack the mental fortitude to win the series.

I can understand if Dampier was there. He played in Dallas for several years with a lot of the current Mavs team.

Lol, Dampier? Such an integral part of the HEAT's march to the NBA finals.

Too funny

This is solely because of free agency, and how there is no allegiance or pride for your home team for many of these players. With the exception of D-Wade, the Heat had a whole new roster, so how indebted are many of the role players to the Heat organization, as most of them wont even be there next year. I understand sports shouldn't be taken this seriously because there are other problems in the world, but if you play for an organization your're whole career and just lost the championship, the last thing you want to do is party with the winners?

It is entirely possible to be disappointed that your team lost, but once it's over feel happy for your former teammates! The outcome was already determined. This is a game, not war. Most of these guys are friends off the court anyway. Non-story.

They are pro athletes, it's not a high school rivalry. They party together all season long. Why not now?

Since Dampier is a former Mav, this is a non-story until someone can say with certainty who else from the Heat was there.

The last six years except this one he has been a loyal hard working Mav. I am sure he is close with Cuban.

Magliore was a former Mav too. though only for a short while.

Eric Dampier will traded/cut regardless of his attending that party. Free alcohol and limited playing time..............why not?
