The N.H.L. chalked up a small victory Wednesday night in its battle with the N.B.A. for the attention of sports viewers in Detroit.

NBC's broadcast of the Pittsburgh Penguins' victory over the Detroit Red Wings in Game 3 of the Stanley Cup finals produced an 18.2 rating in the Detroit market, 14 percent above ESPN's coverage of Game 5 of the N.B.A.'s Eastern Conference finals between the Detroit Pistons and the Boston Celtics.

Whats there to wonder about who Detroit folks watched: They watched the team that was winning its playoffs. Of course I know what you want people to say: The Whites watched the Red Wings, the Blacks watched the Pistons. Isn't that what your looking for? Otherwise, why this stupid post on a political blog.

Detroit is a great sports town. The people there really care about their teams. I am very happy for them.

If the NBA stopped fixing games then maybe their numbers would go up.
Thank God for Rasheed Wallace. As far as I can see, he is the only NBA player with an
unshakable sense of pride. He wont stand for the fraudulence.
