IMF Chief Pressed Germany To Back Greece: Report

WASHINGTON -- The acting chief of the International Monetary Fund, John Lipsky, forced Germany to agree to bail out Greece for a second time, the British newspaper Guardian reported, citing senior officials and diplomats in Brussels. The report said Lipsky threatened to withhold funds and trigger a Greek sovereign default unless Germany pledged firmly it would come to Greece's rescue.
