Steam isn't the only digital download service to offer savings on computer games this week -- Direct2Drive is having weekly deals on select titles throughout the month of July. The selected games fall under a theme, such as "Games Rated 8.0 or Higher." More than 150 titles will be discounted at some point during the month, with savings up to 75% off the regular prices.

Sizzling Summer Sale on Steam

Friday July 1, 2011

Those looking to add to their sim game collection are in luck: Steam is having a blowout summer sale that runs until July 10th, with daily deals on select games for additional savings.

As with the digital download service's popular holiday sales, you can purchase various publisher packs for up to 90% off the original prices. The Sims 3 Pack, for example, can be snagged for $79.99, which includes all eight titles released for the popular life sim to date. Considering the recently released Generations Expansion Pack currently retails for $39.99, that's an amazing deal.

Nearly every genre of sim games are on sale, from flight simulators and business sims to city-building games and sports titles. There are also games for every budget, with more than 500 games and add-ons priced at five dollars or less.

Spend Your Summer in Space

Monday June 27, 2011

Has the high cost of gas put a stop to your travel plans? To encourage more stay-at-home vacations or "staycations," digital download service Good Old Games is slashing the price of its Interplay catalog by 50 percent.

Of note to computer sim gamers are the excellent Freespace and Freespace 2, which may very well be the definitive space combat simulations available on the platform.

Both versions costs a mere $2.99 apiece (until July 4th), and like all titles offered on Good Old Games, they are designed to run on modern systems without any intrusive copy-protection or DRM.

Tennis, Anyone?

Monday June 27, 2011
Just in time for Wimbledon, Sega has released Virtua Tennis 4 for PC as a digital download . You'll play as or against 19 professional athletes, including Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Andy Roddick, Ana Ivanovic, Maria Sharapova and Venus Williams. One of the key changes for this year's version is the addition of role-playing elements to the career mode, which has you making decisions that will influence your path to fame. The game is currently available on Steam, Direct2Drive, and GamersGate for under $30.
