Heibel Ranch may have the most beautiful tasting room in all of Napa - one with no walls, the wine poured at a picnic table in a wooded grove beside a lake. Make an appointment for the Back Country Tour, meet owner and winemaker Trent Ghiringhelli at the property's entrance and you'll get there in "Sugar Magnolia", a 1963 Willy's Navy jeep.

To create our guide to Napa's top wineries, we started out by interviewing a professional Napa Valley tour guide to get the inside scoop on the best wineries for you to try on your next vacation. Now we've visited more on our own and have our own recommendations to offer.
On our most recent Napa visit, we enjoyed fine wine and food during the Enoteca experience at Signorello. Besides great food and wine, they have one of the best views in Napa. That's it in the photo.
We're also starting to look for some great, small wineries - ones that only produce a few thousand cases per year, individually-owned - where you might just find the owner or the winemaker in the tasting room or giving a tour. Look for them here.
