Not Guilty?

Tuesday July 5, 2011

Casey Anthony

Casey Anthony was found not guilty of all felony charges relating to the death of her 2-year-old daughter, Caylee Marie Anthony.

Casey was found guilty only on four counts of giving false information to police. She will be sentenced later this week on those misdemeanors charges.

Is the drama over or just beginning?  Will the police continue to search for truth about who killed Caylee Anthony? Post your thoughts and comments.

Too Cool, For a Hot Florida Day

Take a break from the summer heat with a little winter distraction - one for adults, the other for the kids.  Winter or Summer, the choice is yours.

Created by Santa's elves as a place to play mini golf, Disney's Winter Summerland provides two distinctly different 18-hole golf experiences for a day of family fun -- a summer course and a winter course.

Orlando's IceBar is for those 21 and up. The Ice Lounge is kept at a chilly 27 degrees while the Fire Lounge offers the hottest top 40 dance tunes.

Lake Eola Fountain

Friday July 1, 2011

Since taking a lightning strike in September of 2009, Orlando icon, the Lake Eola Park Fountain has been inoperable.   This July 4th, during the Fireworks at the Fountain celebration in Downtown Orlando, the Fountain will once again  grace the Orlando skyline.  The fountain will be turned on at 9:30pm, as  a prelude to the fireworks display.  The newly renovated ($1.6 million renovation) will include a light and water show that will be choreographed to music being played around the park.

The fountain which was originally installed in 1912 (at a cost of around $10,000) and replaced in 1957 has become a familiar Orlando landmark.  For those wishing to own a piece of the fountain, the city is offering souvenirs for sale.  These include remnants and attractive cut outs, including shapes of swans and the fountain. They will be on sale Monday at Lake Eola Park or can be purchased after Monday by calling 407.246.2284. The proceeds from these sales will go to the Orlando Community & Youth Trust, a non-profit organization that supports the Families, Parks and Recreation Department
