Sewing Videos

Television is popular for a reason. Sure it can be entertaining but it is also a wonderful teaching tool. You can go places you may never actually travel to through a wonderful show.  You can learn all kinds of things by watching television but the shows aren't always there when you want to see them. Video on the Internet, is there when you want it. Having sewing videos at the click of a mouse is like having a sewing instructor available around the clock.  We just added five new videos, so enjoy and remember your bookmark your favorites.

Sewing on the Run

Sunday July 3, 2011

Sewing is a way for me to chill out and relax.... and I think a lot of people find that they relax when they use sewing as a creative outlet.   One of the problems with summer is that it seems like we are always on the go... on the go without my sewing machine.   I admit I am not good at just sitting around and doing nothing. Even if we are sitting on the beach, I like having something to keep my hands busy. Hand sewing fills that need for me... and I get a jump on Christmas gifts and ornaments while I'm at it... what could be better?

Wedding Time

Friday July 1, 2011

Wedding Ring PillowSummers are not just time for pool parties and barbecues. Weddings are the biggest event of many summers. A Keurig coffee pot may be a great gift but how many years is that coffee pot going to last? I prefer to think the marriage is going to last a lot longer than a coffee pot!

So many household items can be sewn and made special as a wedding or bridal shower gift that will last a lifetime. Even a throw pillow embroidered with the couples names and wedding date is going to last longer than a coffee pot... frame a fancy embroidery with their wedding dates and it will last even longer than a pillow. How about a set of cloth napkins, with wedding bells and the wedding date.... something they can bring out for every anniversary dinner.

Summer Time = Rips and Tears

Wednesday June 29, 2011

Mending torn fabricSummer is filled with fun and active adventures... in my world that translates to all kinds of rips and tears. I even hide at least one set of good clothes so that there is one outfit available, that does not have rips or stains, when we need to go somewhere.  I also stock up on fusible web in the spring time so I can make my own patches.  I'll be darned if clothes go in the trash due to a rip when it'll probably get another rip the next time out.
