Not sure how much I will read into it. I grew up on GIJoe, Transformers, Thundercats, and He-Man. I never went running around 1/2 naked riding a cat that shot people with flamethrowers and then transformed into a car and drove off.

True, but those shows tried to instill values into us, and characters always ended up doing the right thing. Lots of explosions and other cool stuff, but the message was always "don't use drugs" or "violence doesn't solve things" or "don't wear a brown belt with black shoes" or something.
The point of the article is that Mater -- who's a protagonist -- is kind of a dick, and he's never called out on his dickishness. And I don't care what the red squiggly underline is trying to imply; "dickishness" should be a word.
That being said, as others have pointed out: the "Mater is a dick... don't be a dick" lesson is something that the PARENTS can easily give when the film is concluded. That's our job.

heres an idea, let your kids enjoy a fun animated movie full of characters they love. and as parents.... actually parent. if you notice your children developing poor characteristics correct them. does the author of this piece even have kids? and if he does, does he use movies as a day care service so he can look at porn uninterrupted?

Considering the quality of half the cartoons on normal TV kids watch, I doubt Cars 2 will have any kind of affect on kids as the writer thinks it will.

While I agree wholeheartedly, if those are indeed the attributes being displayed on screen, I will not let my younger children watch Cars 2 until they are a bit older.Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.

Umm, it should not matter what a movie says or portrays or video games or whatever.

The way Chick Hicks in the first Cars movie got away with ramming into everybody and everything without any penalties was way worse.
