El-Tayar El-Masri (Egyptian Current), the party formed Muslim Brotherhood (MB) youth who defected from the organization earlier this week, held its founding meeting yesterday.

The party published the announcement on its official Facebook page, noting that the founding committee chose lawyer and member of Revolution Youth Coalition Islam Lotfy as legal representative for the founding members and Abdel Rahman Fares as the spokesperson of the party.  Lotfy is still a member of the Muslim Brotherhood, pending a formal response from the organistion's leadership.

A number of Muslim Brotherhood youth defected from the group after they refused to join their Freedom and Justice Party because it was not independent from the organization. The defecting members decided to found their own party.

The new party has published its vision for the upcoming period in Egypt.

The party’s official headquarters is at 47 Ramses street in Cairo.
