The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) decided to delay investigating Egypt and Zamalek striker Mido’s appeal to grant him a temporary licence until 12 July, which will result in him being out of action this season.

Zamalek’s football director Ibrahim Hassan revealed that management will hold a meeting with Mido and ask him to reduce his contracted fees as the striker won’t touch the ball officially with Zamalek this season.

“We will talk with Mido to amend his deal with the club as we won’t make use of his services this season,” Ibrahim Hassan told Al-Ahram.    

The former Tottenham, Roma, Marseille and Middlesbrough striker joined Cairo giants Zamalek last January in a move to end his playing career with his boyhood club.

The 28-year-old Pharaohs star hasn’t seen action since his return, as he wasn’t officially registered with Zamalek because of an administrative error on the part of both his club and Egyptian Football Association (EFA) officials that occurred when the Internet was cut during the 18-day demonstrations that ousted former president Hosni Mubarak.

Mido was expected to wear Zamalek’s jersey this season after CAS decided to grant him a temporary international license, but postponing investigation into his case damaged all hopes of him playing this season.
