Georgetown's Dahlgren Chapel Cross Made from Early Ship's Iron
Rev. Ronald Murphy, S.J., a professor of German, talks about the cross in Dahlgren Chapel, which was made out of ship's iron from England. Murphy guesses it may have come from the Ark and Dove, which brought the first settlers to Maryland. He says the cross, which he calls a "founding relic" of Georgetown University, represents the link between Europe and the first settlers, who came here to freely practice their religion and allow others to practice theirs.
