George Shultz is currently a member of the Hoover Institution, American Enterprise Institute, the New Atlantic Initiative, the Committee for the Liberation of Iraq and the Committee on the Present Danger. He also serves on the board of directors for the Bechtel Corporation, Gilead Sciences, and Charles Schwab Corporation. He is an influential member of the Republican Party and is still consulted on policy issues.

George P. Shultz is the Thomas W. and Susan B. Ford Distinguished Fellow. He is a member of the board of directors of Fremont Group and Accretive Health. He is chairman of the J. P. Morgan Chase International Council and chairman of the Accenture Energy Advisory Board. He is also chairman of the California Governor's Council of Economic Advisors and co-chairman of the Committee on the Present Danger.

Mr. Shultz has published many papers about labor economics including Economic Policy Beyond the Headlines (1978), Workers and Wages in the Urban Labor Market (1970), and Guidelines, Informal Controls and the Marketplace (1966). He has also published a book about his time as the secretary of state entitled Turmoil and Triumph: My Years As Secretary of State (1993).

He has served in an array of public and private sector positions. In the public sector, he has served in the military rising to the rank of Captain in the Marine Corps. As a civilian, he has served as the Director of the United States Office of Management and Budget, the Secretary of Labor, the Secretary of the Treasury, and ultimately as Secretary of State.

Mr. Shultz received his B.A. from Princeton and his Ph.D. from MIT. He has received numerous awards such as the Seoul Peace Prize and the Woodrow Wilson Award for public service.
