AddThis for Joomla!
AddThis provides two extensions for Joomla! The module adds an AddThis button to the template of the page, usually in the sidebar. The plugin allows you to add the button to the body of the page where the article is shown. Both are fully customizable.
We recommend installing either the module or the plugin, but not both. Customization may not be correct if you use both on the same page.
Don't forget to Register and create an AddThis Profile ID. Customizing your plugin with this ID will allow you to see how your visitors are sharing your content: which services they're using for sharing, which content is shared the most, and more.
Plugin
To install the Joomla! plugin:

From the Joomla! Administration screen, select Extensions > Install/Uninstall.
Step 3
Under "Upload Package File", select Browse and select the ZIP file you downloaded in Step 1.
Then click Upload File & Install.
Step 4
Select Extensions > Plugin Manager.
Step 5
Locate the "Content - AddThis" plugin in the list and click the red "X" icon to activate it... and you're done!
Customize Plugin
To customize the button, click the plugin name and set the options on the right; click "Save" when you are finished.
Customization can include your AddThis Profile ID (recommended) for tracking button traffic and usage, button style, colors, and more.
Module
To install the Joomla! module:

One important customization setting is including your AddThis Profile ID (recommended) for tracking button traffic and usage, button style, colors, and more. If you have not registered for an account, you can do so at any time (it's free!), and select the option to also create a Profile ID for analytics at the end of that process.
