Gardner Tops $300K for Second Straight Quarter

Rep. Cory Gardner (R-Colo.) raised more than $300,000 in the second quarter, according to the National Republican Congressional Committee.
The freshman had a strong first quarter as well, bringing in nearly $316,000 and ending March with $238,000 on hand. Further details about his second-quarter finances were not released on Thursday.
Gardner unseated Democrat Betsy Markey last cycle, just two years after Markey won the historically Republican district. He got a Democratic opponent for 2012 on Monday, when state Senate President Brandon Shaffer announced his campaign in the 4th district.
“Congressman Gardner’s commitment to reducing bloated government spending, cutting up America’s credit card, and sponsoring legislation to help create American-made energy is why he enjoys such broad support across Colorado,” NRCC spokesman Tyler Houlton said. “Coloradans on the Eastern Plains know they have a Congressman who will continue to stand up to Washington’s spending culture and work hard to represent their interests and values.”
