A good overview on a very demanding and challenging environment, especially on the backdrop of a global recession - if at all art fairs and high end purchases are indicative of an economy gaining strength.
Where the article failed was at drawing a more comprehensive understanding of what were the outcomes - numbers such as cost of a stall, waiting lists, international participation rates, sale percentages etc. Quoting high end item sales have 'eye- popping' value but are just one skewed point on a very diverse and volatile landscape.
Interesting thank you. We have quoted you in our Decorative Fair, Antiques Interior Design Diary. The Decorative Antiques & Textiles Fair in Battersea which is thrice a year and has been going for 25 years now, goes from strength to strength in 2010. All indicators for the two fairs so far this year have been positive (that's real - not spin) and all the space is booked for the Autumn Fair at the end of September/early October. Is the Battersea Antiques Fair part of a trend or is it a one off? Or should I say "thrice off"?
