Georgetown University Press supports Georgetown’s academic mission by publishing scholarly books and journals for a diverse, worldwide readership. These publications, written by an international group of authors representing a broad range of intellectual perspectives, reflect the academic and institutional strengths of the university. We publish peer-reviewed works in five subjects: bioethics; international affairs and human rights; languages and linguistics; political science, public policy and public management; and religion and ethics.

The BMW Center provides an institutional foundation at Georgetown for disciplinary and interdisciplinary research and teaching on modern Germany and Europe, with emphasis on cultural studies, economics, history and political science. The master of arts in German and European Studies program and joint graduate degree programs with other academic units educates future generations of transatlantic leaders. Through its event programming, partnership initiatives and outreach activities, the center fosters a broad conception of U.S.-European relations.

Department of German aims to teach undergraduate students to become competent and culturally literate users of German. Students learn to employ the language in a range of intellectual and professional contexts and often draw from it personal enrichment and enjoyment. At the graduate level, the department seeks to educate the next generation of professionals who can make substantive and insightful contributions to German studies and participate in shaping the field through scholarship, teaching and service.

The Global Infectious Disease Ph.D. program offers interdisciplinary training in science and science policy related to infectious diseases and related issues of drug resistance and hygiene, as well as economic and environmental factors that have promoted both reemergence and increased mortality. The curriculum is further enhanced by shared research experiences, internships and collaborations among faculty at Georgetown College, the Medical Center, the Law Center, and the Georgetown Public Policy Institute.

The Government Affairs Institute (GAI) has been offering courses on Capitol Hill since 1965 to help federal employees and managers better understand the ways in which congressional actions affect the daily operations of departments and agencies in the executive branch. The institute's mission is to provide education and training that focuses on congressional processes, organization and practices and selected legislative policy issues. GAI conducts most courses on Capitol Hill so that participants can receive practical, on-site experience and analysis of the workings of Congress and have the opportunity to meet and interact with key players in the legislative policy process.

The Department of Government is a community of sophisticated and policy-engaged scholars and students with a teaching, research and service mission. The department seeks to provide its students with the theoretical and practical knowledge at the heart of the discipline of political science and to develop skills that will be important within and beyond the discipline. These skills include critical thinking, writing and communicating abilities that will enable our students to be productive citizens and leaders in their chosen fields.

The mission of the Georgetown University Hospital Office of Continuing Professional Education (OCPE) is to create a measurable enhancement of the knowledge and clinical skills of physicians and other health care professionals through the development of pertinent, high-quality continuing professional education activities.

The Graduate School of Arts and Sciences offers master’s and Ph.D. degrees with research opportunities in many fields, including the sciences, government, liberal arts, interdisciplinary programs, public policy, business and biomedical, to name a few.

The program promotes the Modern Greek language and culture among students, philhellenes and present and future leaders in the nation's capital and beyond. The program has a long tradition of welcoming consortium and continuing education students. The program offers a minor in Modern Greek (six semesters required) through four progressive levels of language instruction. Georgetown students have the opportunity to enrich and expand their classroom experience by electing to participate in internships or community service projects.

The overall scientific goal of the Growth Regulation of Cancer Program is to understand the molecular determinants of the pathophysiological pathways that lead to cancer development. Defining the molecular mechanisms that govern cancer development is one approach that can be used successfully to develop targeted means to intervene in this process, effect new therapies and develop new applications or more effective combinations of therapies for existing modalities.
