Privacy Policy
We’re glad you looked here. Virilion is very sensitive to online privacy concerns (our co-founders began their careers working on Internet privacy issues). All Web sites should have a privacy policy, plain and simple. Your privacy policy should be clear and straightforward about what information your site collects and how it’s used. Here’s ours:
Collection and use of personally identifiable information
At our site, you can request more information about our services,
download materials from our talks, and other interactive services. The
types of personally identifiable information that may be collected at
these pages include: name, address, e-mail address, telephone number,
fax number, and information about your projects.
We do not share or otherwise disclose any personal information, including your name, address, or email addresses with other organizations. Only Virilion staff and our authorized agents have access to personally identifiable information provided by visitors to our site. We do not lease, rent or sell the information we collect. People who affirmatively submit their contact information through the Virilion site may be contacted by Virilion staff.
Browser information collected on the Web site
As with any Web site operator, Virilion analyzes our Web site logs to
constantly improve the value of our Web site. We use an external service
to provide real-time reporting of browser accesses to our site to us
and our authorized agents. This includes page views, unique views,
unique visitors, repeat visitors, frequency of visits and peak-volume
traffic periods. We do not use this service to gather, request, record,
require, collect or track any Internet users’ personally identifiable
information.
Privacy of our email lists
Virilion maintains an email list to keep interested parties informed
about various activities of the firm. Individuals must affirmatively
request to join our mailing lists. In addition, we do not share the
email addresses on our lists with outside organizations. List server
software is configured to refuse to divulge the email addresses of our
list subscribers to anyone but authorized Virilion staff, including
other list subscribers. Only Virilion staff have access to personally
identifiable information provided by visitors to our site.
If you receive a promotional email from Virilion, such as a send-to-a-friend communication, we will not contact any of the email addresses obtained as a result of the promotional communication.
Children’s privacy
Because we care about the safety and privacy of children online, we
comply with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act of 1998
(COPPA). COPPA and its accompanying FTC regulation establish United
States federal law that protects the privacy of children using the
Internet. We do not knowingly contact or collect personal information
from children under 13. Our site is not intended to solicit information
of any kind from children under 13, and we have designed our site to
block our knowing acceptance of information from children under 13
whenever age-related information is requested.
It is possible that by fraud or deception we may receive information pertaining to children under 13. If we are notified of this, as soon as we verify the information, we will immediately obtain parental consent or otherwise delete the information from our servers. If you want to notify us of our receipt of information by children under 13, please do so by emailing us at contact@virilion.com.
Security
Virilion has appropriate security measures in place in our physical
facilities to protect against the loss or misuse of information that we
have collected from you at our site.
If you have any questions about our privacy policy, please let us know.
