ADMITTED STUDENTS

Admissions Packet

You should have received an admissions packet in the mail. It includes:

(1) Your Acceptance Letter into the first program you will attend at Georgetown EFL.
(2) An Orientation Book with information about our program and living in Washington, DC.
(3) An Immunization Form-Please read the attached blue paper for specific instructions.
(4) EFL On Campus Housing Application (Fall and Spring Intensive Programs only)-
(5) Your Form I-20 and SEVIS fee payment form (if you requested to obtain an F-1 student visa)

Getting Your F-1 Student Visa

If you requested a form I-20, you should have received it in your admissions packet. The following instructions will help you get your visa.

1-Pay your SEVIS fee of $200. Go to www.fmjfee.com and select “Proceed to I-901 Form and payment”. You must have your I-20 with you complete this form. For more payment options, please read the orange paper in your admissions packet or page 4 of your Orientation Book.
2- Make an appointment at your U.S. Embassy or Consulate to obtain your visa. Be sure to ask if there is anything special that you need to bring. This may be different depending on your country. See page 5 in your Orientation book for the list of documents that you will need to bring to your appointment.

Arriving in the United States

-When making travel arrangements, we recommend you arrive several days prior to the start of the program. Students arriving after the first day of the program will be charged a $100.00 late registration fee.

Housing

-Start your housing search before you arrive in Washington DC. To begin, read pages 19-28 of your Orientation Book and visit the housing section of the CLED website by clicking here. Plan on arriving a week before the program starts. This gives you time to look for housing if you still need to and to get to know Washington, DC. and Georgetown before the EFL Orientation begins.

-If you would like to live on-campus in a dormitory during the fall and spring programs and are under 24 years old, submit the housing application included in your Orientation Packet to the EFL Office as soon as you receive it.  For summer housing, refer to your admission packet for information on how to apply online. 

Packing

-Pack all identification and important documents from Georgetown University in your hand luggage. Please refer to the Packing and Pre-Departure Checklist on page 31 of your Orientation Book for a complete list.

Orientation

-Report promptly to Orientation on the date stated in your Admission Letter and bring your passport (including 1-94 Card and F-1 Student Visa), the Form I-20, and local address information.
