THE OMNIVORE'S DILEMMA

Based on the best-selling book by Michael Pollan and written, conceived, and directed by Prof. Natsu Onoda Power, this world premiere adaptation at the Davis Performing Arts Center July 26-31 moves from the corn fields of Iowa, to a small organic farm in Virginia, to America’s dinner tables, grocery stores, and fast-food emporiums.

The unconventional, memorable production engages the question: “What should we have for dinner?” — a quandary which Pollan says has confronted us since man discovered fire, and the answer to which may well determine our very survival as a species.

Welcome new students!  We hope you will become active in the performing arts at Georgetown and continue your personal artistic development as well as the pre-college traditions you have enjoyed. Your involvement in the performing arts will not only broaden your perspective of the world beyond academia, but create friendships and inspire memories that will last a lifetime.

You are highly encouraged to complete a performing arts interest form highlighting your background and experience in the arts. Just download, and follow instructions on the form.

The Department of Performing Arts welcomes and encourages the participation of everyone—on the stage or behind the scenes. Whether you have advanced skills or are just a beginner, there is a performing arts group for you. All of the organizations have places for individuals interested in management, production and publicity.

Performing Arts Open House

The Department of Performing Arts will host an Open House on Tuesday, August 30, 2011 from 4-6 pm in the Royden B. Davis Performing Arts Center Lobby for anyone interested in meeting with performance faculty, professional staff, group officers, and student members to discuss how you can become part of the performing arts at Georgetown. Enjoy some light refreshments and great conversation with both staff and fellow students who will be available to answer questions regarding auditions, performances, private music lessons and much more.
