ITIL+ Foundations

Download the Spring/Summer Schedule

Program Description:
The Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) is a customer-focused, process-oriented approach to information technology (IT) service management. ITIL has become the de-facto standard for IT-centric organizations across the world. Developed in the 1980's by the U.K. Office of Government and Commerce (OGC), ITIL principles and methodologies have been adopted by global corporations including Microsoft, Hewlett Packard, IBM, Philips, and Royal Dutch Shell as well as numerous government agencies as a means to plan, design, develop, deliver and support IT services for internal and external clients. ITIL's broad application, customizable framework, and emphasis on best practices in service operations make it a critical credential and skill set for IT professionals.

Georgetown University offers courses in ITIL? V3 that go beyond the minimum requirements to pass the ITIL? V3 certification exams. Our ITIL+ courses are taught by experienced practitioners with real world experience. In addition to understanding the ITIL? V3 framework, these courses focus on how best-in-class organizations have adopted and implemented ITIL as a means to reduce costs, increase efficiencies, offer new services, and remain competitive. After completing the ITIL+ Foundations course, participants can focus on one or any of the ITIL core capabilities: service design, service strategy, service operations, service transition, and continual service improvement.

Course Description:
The ITIL+ Foundations course is an introduction to the ITIL? V3  framework. The course offers a comprehensive overview of ITIL practices and provides comprehensive checklists, tasks, and procedures that any IT organization can tailor to its needs. In addition to preparing for the ITIL? V3  Foundations certification exam by reviewing sample exams in class, participants will analyze and discuss case studies on how organizations have adopted and implemented ITIL? V3 as a means of achieving critical organizational goals.

Please note that Georgetown University does not offer the ITIL? V3 certification exam on-site. Interested exam candidates should contact Prometric to make testing arrangements.
