For more than 50 years, the School of Continuing Studies has fulfilled Georgetown University's mission of educational outreach and inclusivity by offering a wide range of degrees and applied learning opportunities to a diverse community of students and professionals.

To do this, the School brings the industry's top experts into the classroom exposing students to the most current political, societal, and financial issues surrounding growing and important career fields. The School provides the knowledge, faculty, and resources for students, professionals, and life-long learners to improve themselves and improve the world around them.

Through the insight of these experts, students gain a better understanding of problems faced in their field of study, then develop and apply real solutions. As a result, the impact of student work is felt not only within the classroom, but within the many industries and communities our students serve. Students are not only gaining experience on their behalf, but are also solving problems that positively change the world around them.

The degrees and programs found within SCS bring theory to practice. Rigorous academic programs, led by experts in their fields, provide the opportunity for students to excel academically and professionally.

Our programming continually sets the standard for both their quality and breadth of curriculum. The Master of Professional Studies (MPS) in Public Relations & Corporate Communications program was named one of the top five finalists in the 'PR Education Program of the Year' category for the 2011 PRWeek Awards for the third year in a row. Students from the MPS in Journalism program gain unprecedented access to journalists in Washington, D.C., even holding ‘class’ at the White House briefing room. Our Doctor of Liberal Studies program is the first program of its kind in the world, positioning its graduates as unique. And, throughout this learning and engaging the School regularly plays host to some of the world’s most influential leaders from government and industry, offering valuable insights to our students that complement their educational experience.

SCS energizes the Washington, D.C. community by providing outstanding opportunity and fomenting community engagement through innovative educational programming. Our programming serves diverse communities, from high school students looking for a college preparatory experience to life-long learners whose love of learning brings them back into the classroom.
