About Bloomberg

Sustainability

At Bloomberg, being sustainable means managing our business better by integrating environmental, social and economic considerations into our operations, as well as our products and services. Sustainability combines corporate citizenship, risk management and strategic opportunity – driving our operating costs down, our revenues up, and influencing wider adoption of sustainable practices across the business community.

We don’t just talk about sustainability around Bloomberg; it’s an integral part of our company culture. Our program, BGREEN, began from within and has grown exponentially from there – with initiatives that span all our offices and engage our entire workforce. Our employees use an internal site to share information and tips about sustainable practices both at the office and at home.

The Bloomberg sustainability program is on track to reduce our carbon footprint 50% by 2013 (from our 2007 baseline) through implementing energy efficiency measures, increasing renewable resource use and activating comprehensive waste reduction strategies.

Bloomberg’s commitment extends beyond our own doors. We engage vendors and customers in setting standards, promoting clean technologies and reducing the use of natural resources.

In addition, we’re moving beyond traditional sustainable efforts and harnessing what we do best – providing superior data, analytics, and news – to help move society toward a low-carbon economy. Our goal is to provide reliable, actionable information that drives responsible investment decisions across the value chain. Sustainable actions benefit us all – our customers, our business and the environment.
