OSU Welcome Week is Aug. 15 - 20

Aug. 10, 2011

New students will be welcomed Monday, Aug. 15. Registration takes place at the OSU Student Union. In addition to social and athletic events, there will be 150 programs during Welcome Week, which emphasize the six pillars of student success, academic excellence, leadership, service and civic engagement, finding one's purpose, broadening your horizons and wellness.

One of the many highlights of Welcome Week is the College Spotlight on Friday, Aug. 19, at 2 p.m. when students, who have signed up for the event, are invited to their intended college to meet the dean and faculty.

The President’s Convocation will follow at 4 p.m. on Friday in Gallagher-Iba Arena. All new students are invited to attend as OSU President Burns Hargis offers an official welcome to Stillwater. Questions about Welcome Week? Phone the OSU Vice President for Student Affairs at (405) 744-5328.

Architect Selected for OSU Performing Arts Center in Stillwater

Aug. 1, 2011

The OSU/A&M; Board of Regents recently selected an architect and a construction manager for the design and construction of the performing arts center and possible renovation of the Seretean Center for the Performing Arts on the OSU-Stillwater campus. Beck Design of Tulsa was selected as the architect for the project and Manhattan Construction Company of Oklahoma City was selected as the construction manager.

“Taking another step toward a new performing arts center on our campus is very exciting,” said Peter M.A. Sherwood, Regents Professor and dean of the OSU College of Arts and Sciences.  “Our music and theater departments have many achievements and have so much to contribute to OSU and the surrounding Stillwater community and the state.”

The OSU Departments of Music and Theater are both housed in the Seretean Center for the Performing Arts.  Built in the 1970s, the concert hall is a renovation of a 1912 auditorium. The construction of the new performing arts center and possible renovation of the Seretean Center will be funded primarily through private donations. To learn more about giving opportunities, e-mail This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
